Introduction To RodeoJackson Hole's popular new horseback experience! Get a hands-on introduction to the timed-events portions of rodeo. Learn and experience team roping, barrel racing and more. Introduction To Rodeo is a fun and exciting program, popular with Jackson Hole visitors, and the only one of its kind in Wyoming. You or your group will ride on a working cattle ranch in the rodeo practice arena and learn the basics of team roping, barrel racing and more. You will be roping from your own horse by the end of the session. You may even chase down live steers. Get one-on-one personal instruction from active rodeo performers and some of the most experienced horsemen in Jackson Hole. Introduction To Rodeo is customized for you; go at your own pace and comfort level. Your program is tailored for your riders, and is good for children, adults, first-timers or experienced riders alike. Ride trained horses and rope a life-like calf dummy, or choose to learn the barrel-racing pattern, in a safe and predictable environment at your own speed. Most sessions are 2 hours and customized for the riders. Participants will walk away having learned and tried their hand at several rodeo events in the arena with active rodeo cowboys and rodeo horses. Be a rodeo star! Experience Expert HorsemanshipIntroduction To Rodeo is created by P-5 Putnam Horsemanship and led by Scott and Jamie Putnam. The Putnams have 50 years combined experience in horsemanship, rodeo, showing and ranching. They are some of the most experienced horsemen and riders in Jackson Hole and are active competitors in regional rodeos and roping events. Jamie and Scott Putnam's son Charlie is on a rodeo scholarship at Central Arizona College. See them all compete in the Jackson Hole Rodeo, Wednesday and Saturday nights during the summer as well as other regional and national events. Together they help operate the Snake River Ranch, one of the largest deeded land and cattle operations in the Jackson Hole area. The Putnam family loves horses, cattle, riding and teaching others.
